The final day in Doumen!

After two weeks of primary/middle school English camp/teacher training, and one week of senior high English camp, this is the final day in Doumen.

 Idiom presentations!

Ending the day with the YMCA!

Goodbye Doumen . . .

Jana invited us to her house for chocolate chip cookies and fun! This was from a day or two ago.
We have officially worn Jana out! She has been an amazing help to our team in Doumen. Not to mention, she does incredible things while she is here during the year. No wonder she is so sleepy--she's just so amazing! Luke thinks so, too!

Thanking Jumbo and Chai for their hospitality with a little something from home!

Another day in Doumen

Courtney explaining the days activities to the students!
Rebecca giving her mini lecture about family vacations and events!

Zhongshan

A pair of primary teachers shared a lesson idea centered on talking about food likes and dislikes.  After taking a quick survey, students converse about their favorite items to create a unique fruit salad.  Here is one group's creation!

Here's Kacie with Cindy, one of the youngest teachers in the primary group.  We are especially impressed with the young teachers that are coming out of teachers' colleges in China.  They have been well educated, and have wonderfully creative ideas!

Ashley did a workshop on the book FLAT STANLEY, and then shared about HU's Flat Norm!

Zhongshan communicative games

Teachers are enjoying the communicative games we're introducing!

Visiting in Huntington

A few members of the TEFL class in Huntington took one of their few open evenings to met with a few "senior educators" Tuesday evening. This impromptu visit was delightful for all.

Free Talk in Doumen

Jana is leading a longer free talk in the afternoon for teachers and students to practice their fluency. It's been fun! Today we chatted about shopping and yesterday we talked about different crimes.
Today we went to meet our old friend Lucy and had morning tea (dim sum) with her! She brought along a friend named Alice. It was really great to meet both of them today!

Snacks in Zhongshan

Chinese teachers share their snacks regularly. Today they enjoyed a few American treats!
AND MORE!  English cafe: karaoke, crochet, and Uno!

Senior High Camp in Doumen

 Haiku poem presentations!
Kaleb gave a mini lecture this morning about American pizza. He works at a pizza place and was able to share a lot about his job! The students enjoyed this lecture!

Preparing for our Last Lesson at ELS-IPFW

Groups of TEFL course participants are preparing for our last lesson at ELS-IPFW in Ft. Wayne on Thursday. As soon as the groups began I heard, "What activities should we do?" Another participant said, "No! Objectives first, then activities!" Music to a teacher trainer's ears!

The Girls from Hunan… The teachers have all connected in different ways here at the training.  This great group of primary teachers all wanted a photo together because they all come from the same province.

Today is Dr. Peace's last day in Zhongshan.  He needs to head out tomorrow to get back to the states in time for a conference in New York.

Here is what it looks like during the morning work time in the primary teachers' room!  It's a busy place!

Norm Awards! (The Forrester's mascot at Huntington University is Norm!)

The "Norm Awards" for each team! Our theme is "Just Do It!" and each day they have the potential to earn a letter to spell out the phrase - Joy, Understanding, Spirit, Teamwork, Drama, On-task, Invention, Thorough.

After our lovely visit to the garden, the team enjoyed dinner with our hosts at a western restaurant, and then afterwards, we were taken on a boat ride down the riverfront.  As you can see, Donita and Donna find friends wherever they go!

Zhongshan

One of our hosts here in Zhongshan, is this lady, Mary Zhan.  She and Luke were discussing what the Chinese proverbs on a pavilion meant.
