Doumen Day 2

Day 2 at Doumen went quite well today. We had a few startup issues yesterday, but they were pretty much resolved by today - thankfully.

During our early afternoon free talk, we used a set of cards called Heart Mirror as discussion starters. The Heart Mirror cards are a series of photos, shot in China, that are designed to evoke emotions or trigger memories. We lay the cards out on the table face up and ask people to pick 3 and talk about them.

I picked three cards - one of a late middle-aged woman, one of a graveyard, and one of a cross. I talked about my mother and noted that she had recently died but that because of the cross we had confidence that she would one day live again. The conversation didn't really go anywhere from there (in fact, one person stated that in Buddhism there is also a belief in life after death through reincarnation.). At least, though, I was able to plant some seeds.

Thanks for thinking of us - and please continue to do so. It is quite hot and humid which saps our strength, but everyone is in good spirits.
